Welcome to the ZERO GROUND System Solution

Welcome to ZERO-GROUND.com... Home of the World's Most Advanced Patented Wiring System Solution for Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Adjustable Speed Drives (ASD’s), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS’s) and Computer Systems.

The conventional wisdom and standard practice of grounding electrical circuits to “physical earth” for SAFETY (in accordance with the NEC), was initiated over 100 years ago. Over the past few decades, technological developments including Variable Frequency Drives and power devices utilizing IGBT’s and other fast switching power devices have been introduced to the market. These technological developments (VFD’s, UPS’s, SERVOS and Computer Controlled systems) typically generate high frequency ground currents, which when grounded to “physical earth” can cause issues affecting other sensitive electrical/electronic equipment. as well as shocks, sparks and arcing. High frequency ground currents can and do cause motor bearings “currents” which leads motor bearings to fail prematurely (causing premature motor failure).

These high frequency ground currents cannot be eliminated; however, they can be contained, controlled and re-directed, which is exactly what is protected in our ZERO GROUND System Solution patented components and installation method. The ZERO GROUND System Solution provides a more effective ground which:

REDUCES HIGH FREQUENCY GROUND CURRENTS TO ZERO

REDUCES MOTOR BEARING CURRENTS

EXTENDS MOTOR LIFE

INCREASES SYSTEM Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF)

REDUCES UNPLANNED DOWNTIME

DIRECTS FAULT CURRENTS AWAY FROM HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS

The ZERO GROUND System Solution new paradigm now allows grounding technology to catch up to equipment technology.

In replacing a standard wiring system for a VFD cell in one of our Beta Sites, ZERO GROUND System Solution reduced 1,538 milliamps to Zero. We define Zero, as five places to the right of the decimal point (please see graphs below):

("ELECTRICAL NOISE" measured before ZERO GROUND System Solution; note: before graph vertical divisions are 500 mA)

("ELECTRICAL NOISE" measured after ZERO GROUND System Solution; note: "after" graph vertical divisions are MAGNIFIED 10x to 50 mA)

Companies and organizations ZERO GROUND has worked and/or is working with include:

• MSHA - U.S. Mining Safety & Health Administration*

• ABB - Asea Brown Boveri, Ltd*

• TIC - Toshiba International Corp.*

• Flint Energy

• Albian Sands - Div. of Shell Oil

• G-P - Georgia Pacific Corporation

• IEEE - Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Standards Association

• TAPPI - Technical Association for Pulp & Paper Industry

• US Navy

• Wisconsin Department of Agriculture

* Indicates 3RD Party Tested and/or Endorsed

All ZERO GROUND System Solution wiring systems will reduce high frequency ground currents to ZERO while meeting N.E.C. 250 Grounding requirements. The ZERO GROUND system solution is comprised of UL Listed Materials. ZERO GROUND also meets Class I Division II Hazardous Applications Rating.

October 2005 – IEEE publishes the ZERO GROUND System Solution “white paper” at the EIC Conference on Electrical Insulation, Indianapolis, Indiana. To view, click on website link: ZERO GROUND Reviews.
