TERMINATION SOLUTIONS
(Enclosure, NO Enclosure, Direct to Military Connector)

USING ENCLOSURE

dBzSHIELD's family of shielded (screened) Liquid Tight Flex Conduits are designed to accept commercial liquid tight metallic conduit fittings with NPT (National Pipe Thread) threads. These fittings typically terminate to a metal enclosure or bulkhead. A locknut inside the enclosure secures the fitting.

TERMINATIONS NOT USING ENCLOSURE

The challenge of termination without an enclosure is to provide sufficient strain relief for the cable as it exits the conduit fitting, and to support the weight of the terminating connector or device. Both of these objectives can be met by combining two alternative connecting components.
1) Combination fitting/adapter with female NPT threaded end attaches to dBzSHIELD
2) Mating cord grip with male NPT threaded end attaches to combination fitting/adapter.

KEY STANDARD NPT FITTING COMPONENTS

Grounding ferrule

Threads into the internal metallic material of the conduit core. Protects the cut conduit end. The grounding ferrule to internal core connection creates a direct shield-to-drain or ground when fitting body is completely assembled and tightened.

Sealing ring

Slides onto conduit prior to installation of grounding ferrule. Aids in directing liquids away from fitting.

Fitting body and Rear Lock Nut

These pieces thread together to enclose the grounding ferrule and sealing ring. Tighten per manufacturer's recommendations. The fitting body has a male threaded NPT end.

Enclosure Locknut

For attachment of fitting body to interior of enclosure. Tighten per manufacturer's recommendations.

Typical Fitting Material

Steel with zinc plating. Premium metals are available; selection varies by manufacturer.

Recommended option

Fittings with insulated throat for ease of cable insertion.

Other options

45 degree and 90 degree angled fitting.
Straight, 45 degree and 90 degree angled fitting with integrated external grounding lug.
Bonding rings
Permanent crimp grounding ferrule.
Female NPT thread, with or without integrated external grounding lug.
Metric PG or Metric ISO threads.
Wiremesh grips for added strain relief.
Cushioned clamps.

Use of Conductive Grease

Fittings are a potential source of leakage. Use of silver conductive grease is recommended. Zero Ground's shield effective testing is conducted using silver conductive grease with NPT fittings.
