COMMON CABLE INTERFERENCE and MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS Meeting Application Attenuation Requirements
Power and signal wire and cable are susceptible to interference from adjacent equipment and devices.
Power and signal wire and cable may cause interference with adjacent equipment and devices.
Emissions from one cable are radiating onto an adjacent cable.
Cable shielding (screening) is not adequate, and redesigning the cable is not a preferred solution.
The cable system attenuation requirements include immunity against environmental sources of interference.
Potential sources of interference cover a broad frequency spectrum, including low (KHz) and high (MHz) frequencies.
How dBzSHIELD Can Help
Shielded (screened) flexible metallic core conduit provides physical and electrical isolation
Tested for shielding effectiveness from 10KHz - 18GHz
If using shielded cable, dBzSHIELD supplements cable shielding
Can be integrated only where needed
Installation and Maintenance, Sourcing and Cost Containment
The installation schedule is tight or not flexible.
Maintenance access to cable inside conduit is required.
Low toxicity conduit jacket (sheath) is required
Routing for cables must incorporate curves.
Cables need the physical protection of conduit.
Cable/conduit segment lengths are long or variable
An enclosure will not be used for termination.
Cable must terminate to a military connector.
How dBzSHIELD Can Help
Installs in one half the time of rigid conduit and more quickly than many Mil Spec conduit systems
Uses cost-effective, easy to assemble fittings.
Removable fittings allow for service or replacement of cables; dBSHIELD can be relocated
Longer lengths typically available, which reduces waste and labor/supplies for splices.
Flexible physical protection to accomodate curves in cable routing.
Supports termination inside an enclosure, where no enclosure is used, or directly to a military connector.
Use only where needed to fix problem areas; avoid cable redesign or may allow use of commonly available cable rather than custom cable designs
Standards sizes from 3/8 inch to 2 inch (US Trade Size) with selected products up to 4 inch
THE ATTENUATION SYSTEM
dBzSHIELD is a modified Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) product line. When planning for critical equipment protection, cable runs through Shielded Flexible Conduits are an option to be considered by EMI and Electrical Engineers along with filters, enclosures and other specialized shielding materials as part of the complete attenuation system.
