Why the ZERO GROUND System Solution Was Developed

The conventional wisdom and standard practice of grounding electrical circuits to “physical earth” for SAFETY (in accordance with the NEC), was initiated over 100 years ago. Over the past few decades, technological developments including Variable Frequency Drives and power devices utilizing IGBT’s have been introduced to the market. These technological developments (VFD’s, UPS’s, SERVOS and Computer Controlled systems) typically generate high frequency ground currents, which when grounded to “physical earth” can cause issues affecting other sensitive electrical/electronic equipment.

The ZERO GROUND System Solution provides a more effective ground which:

REDUCES HIGH FREQUENCY GROUND CURRENTS TO ZERO

REDUCES MOTOR BEARING CURRENTS

EXTENDS MOTOR LIFE

INCREASES SYSTEM MTBF*

REDUCES UNPLANNED DOWNTIME

ZERO GROUND's new paradigm now allows grounding technology to catch up to equipment technology.

*M
MTBF
Mean time between failures.
An average time between machinery breakdowns. If the MTBF decreases, root cause analysis must be carried out to bring the MTBF # to a high, meaning long times between failures. PM, TQM, JIT, better controls and the ZERO GROUND “System Solution” are all tools to make MTBF higher.
